Mission and Aims - Melbourne Press Club

As issues involving health, finance, crime, politics and even sport and
entertainment become more complex, so too increases the responsibility
of the media to explain them in simple, accessible terms.

A central aim of the Melbourne Press Club is to improve the standard of
mass communication, and promote the exchange of information between the
media and the community.

To achieve this, the club sponsors prestigious annual awards for the
state's best journalism and hosts monthly talks by community leaders,
who open themselves up to questioning by members in the audience.
